Projects and Initiatives
Scholarships reward students for meaningful, effective work. They are competitive, and primarily recognize academic success, but may also be given for community impact, leadership, or other accomplishments.
Providing a scholarship is a simple, practical way to help an individual student directly and inspire them to continue to set lofty goals.
We can help you set up a scholarship that recognizes high-performing students in alignment with your interests and affiliations. You can choose to support a scholarship through an expendable or endowed gift.
While the costs of postsecondary education affect most students, some struggle more than others to pay for tuition, books and living expenses. Bursaries provide financial assistance for those in need. For many students, a bursary directly affects their ability to attend and graduate.
Providing a bursary sends a message to struggling students that you see their challenges and that you care, giving students the financial and moral support they need to succeed.
We can help you set up a bursary in alignment with your interests and affiliations. You can choose to support a bursary through an expendable or endowed gift.
Awards are competitive like scholarships and can recognize academic, leadership, community impact or other accomplishments, but like bursaries they also require that students demonstrate financial need.
Providing an award is a great way for you to help students in need, while also recognizing their achievements. Awards inspire students to continue to work hard while reassuring them that they have the financial support to do so.

The Student Emergency Fund is one of Laurier’s unique responses the challenges students face into today’s complex society. This fund provides one-time support to students who are experiencing an unforeseen financial crisis. In many cases, it allows them to stay in school and complete their degree. The fund supports a range student needs, including helping a single parent/student in a housing crisis with first and last month’s rent.
The Student Emergency Fund is a great way to support students’ physical and mental health and well-being so that they can succeed in their studies.
Laurier students care about the world around them and they are passionate about getting involved and broadening their horizons. Our international learning and service programs are extremely popular and constantly expanding; every year, more students have the opportunity to make a difference abroad while learning real-world skills.
You can support students’ international experiences through travel scholarships, awards and bursaries or by funding specific team or group travel.
Unsure of where you want to direct your gift? Designating your gift to Laurier’s Greatest Need allows us to us to use your support where it will make the most immediate difference. Your gift could be directed from anything to an exciting new building project, student awards, investment in research, student wellness, athletics, campus cultural activities and everything in between!
The Library is the intellectual and cultural heart of Laurier, the place where the university community comes together to access and interact with information and people, generate new ideas and engage with the great questions of our time.
Our Library offers students, faculty, staff and community members a space to engage with traditional and emerging media. Donor support helps us offer fundamental research and teaching resources like books, databases, theses/dissertations and our archives, but also supports an in-house makerspace, community/culture events and activities and multi-media resources. Because of your generosity, the Library has something for everyone.
As we look to the future, university senior leadership has charged the university librarian with a task to organize and convene a university-wide "Transform Laurier Library" committee and to lead a process that will imagine the next stages of the Laurier Library evolution.
The Library is about to take on a comprehensive and wide-ranging consultative process and to think deeply about the role of the Laurier Library within the context of a variety of stakeholders and through many different lens.
What will the library of the future look like? You can play a role in shaping it! Stay connected with our visioning process, and/or support the Library with a transformational gift.
Adopt-A-Hawk to support Laurier Athletics! Through the Adopt-A-Hawk program, alumni, family and friends “adopt” one of our more than 500 student-athletes each season by offering a donation in their name to their specific athletics program.
Donations help Laurier secure top-quality equipment, enhance coaching resources, increase opportunities for advanced off-season training and exhibition play and inspire our student-athletes to lead lives of leadership and purpose, on and off the field. Programs such as men's baseball, women's lacrosse and men's rugby exclusively use the Adopt A Hawk platform to support their needs.
