Music at Laurier

Laurier’s Faculty of Music is a national and international leader in music education, music industry, music performance and music therapy. We are dedicated to facilitating artistic and scholarly development of the highest calibre in a supportive, inclusive and experiential learning environment that challenges students to achieve their dreams.

With your help, we are renovating and expanding our current music building, transforming it into a vastly improved space for teaching, practising, rehearsing and performing. It will be a space that welcomes everyone in, bringing more musical experiences to the broader community.

Through the Making Space for Music campaign, Laurier's Faculty of Music will become a dynamic and connected hub for students, faculty, alumni, musicians and music lovers in Waterloo Region and beyond.

Creating New Spaces

See the impact with the different spaces the Making Space for Music campaign will create.

A Lobby of Light and Space

Full of natural light and equipped with relaxed seating, sound equipment and a grand piano, this contemporary, glassed-in space will become the site for impromptu concerts by students and faculty, as well as for small musical events in Waterloo.

An Exceptional Entranceway

This dramatic new gateway to the Waterloo campus will complement the architecture of Lazaridis Hall and continue Laurier’s transformation of University Avenue.

Beautiful Practice Space

There will be two floors of practice rooms for solo practice and ensemble rehearsals. Rooms on the second floor will be designed with floor-to-ceiling windows providing a view onto University Avenue.
